SE57865 - OSP-DB-PERFM CHANGE SYSLIMTBL PRUNER IMPLEMENTATION

 APAR (Authorized Program Analysis Report)

Abstract

OSP-DB-PERFM CHANGE SYSLIMTBL PRUNER IMPLEMENTATION

Error Description

In some environments, the System Limits pruning task which runs
in a low priority QDBSRVnn job can consume an undue amount of
CPU while executing this DELETE SQL statement:

DELETE FROM QSYS2.SYSLIMTBL
   WHERE LIMIT_TYPE = 1 AND
LASTCHG NOT IN (SELECT LASTCHG FROM QSYS2.SYSLIMPRNO)

   WHERE LIMIT_TYPE = 1 AND
LASTCHG NOT IN (SELECT LASTCHG FROM QSYS2.SYSLIMPRNO)

Problem Conclusion

The QSYS2.SYSLIMPRNO view contained a union of two OLAP queries.
By splitting the two OLAP queries into individual views, SQE is
able to achieve a much better performance implementation.
