MA47635 - LIC-COMM-SRCB025A6F7 Ethernet adapter CCIN 576F transmit hang

 APAR (Authorized Program Analysis Report)

Abstract

LIC-COMM-SRCB025A6F7 Ethernet adapter CCIN 576F transmit hang

Error Description

SRCB025A6F7 generated on 576F ethernet resource.

Problem Summary

For Ethernet adapters with CCIN 576F, a SRCB025A6F7 is generated
and Ethernet communications appears to stop.

Problem Conclusion

This problem appears to only be occurring on Power 9 systems and
Ethernet adapters with CCIN 576F.  The cause of the Ethernet
communication problem is due to a missing memory barrier
instruction in the 576F device driver.  This can cause
out-of-order PCIe MMIO writes to the adapter resulting in the
adapter getting into a state where it is no longer able to
transmit.  The only recovery from this is to vary off/on the CMN
resource.  This PTF fixes the device driver.
