Abstract

LIC-OTHER-UNPRED FAILURE TO VARY ON IASP AFTER THE IASP RUNS
OUT OF SPACE.

Error Description

When an IASP runs out of space, the IASP is taken offline. If,
during the subsequent Vary On attempt, Storage Management
cannot extend its directories during Storage Management
recovery, it sets a flag to force a special recovery step
during the next Vary On to recover free space. That special
step had a defect that could cause the Storage Management
Directory Recovery fail during Vary On. One common approach to
getting more space in the IASP is to add additional disk to the
IASP. However, if the special recovery step flag had been set,
and a new disk is added, the defect will be exposed on every
Vary On attempt.
