Abstract
OSP-COMM-ELAN-PERFM DEVICE DRIVER NOT RECEIVING INTERRUPTS
Error Description
SRIOV capable cards 26E4 has problem with not receiving packets
in a timely manner.
The problem with a delay 1/16th (0.0625) of a seconds occurs
when a line description is ONLINE(*YES) or an associated
interface is AUTOSTART(*YES). A Sniffer network trace will see
a delay in the .064 or .065 of a second for response.

*****
There is a problem with Ethernet device drivers not receiving
packets in a timely manner. The customer was seeing a delay of
approximately .065 of a second for a response with a sniffer
network trace with a ping test. This behavior can be observed
with adapters with CCINs 2B93, 2C4C, 2C4D, 2CC0, 2CC1, 2CE3, or
2CE4. Varying the line description off and on corrected the
performance issue.
Problem Conclusion
The symptoms seen by the customer are due to the device driver
not receiving interrupts. This is caused by a multi-threading
issue which is seen if multiple CMN resources on a device are
being activated simultaneously. This is more likely to happen
if the CMN resources have line descriptions with ONLINE(*YES)
specified or if those line descriptions are associated with
interfaces with AUTOSTART(*YES).
This PTF will fix the multi-threading problem with interrupt
setup and the device driver performance issue should be
corrected.
