MA45331 - LIC-INCORROUT MSDMgr allow partial media copy, increase size

 APAR (Authorized Program Analysis Report)

Abstract

LIC-INCORROUT MSDMgr allow partial media copy, increase size

Error Description

When a read error occurs during a media copy. The dump is not
normally saved in the MSD library. If the failure occurs in the
AsData the MSD should be saved.
The Copy/Save of the MSD to media or DASD is allowed to do the
same thing.
The setAsDataLimitations flags will be set indicating this type
of restore.

Also, a problem was found when reserving space for a MSD in the
MSD library. The space maybe too small if the dump is not
compressed resulting in losing some AsData.

When a read error occurs during a MSDMgr media copy to the MSD
library the MSD isn't saved.

Also, the space reserved for the Auxiliary data (AsData) in the
ASP may be too small and if the dump is not compressed some
AsData maybe lost.

Problem Conclusion

The LIC MSDMgr was changed to allow a partial MSD to be saved if
a read error occurs in the Auxiliary data  (AsData) part of the
MSD; either because of corrupt media or not saved to the ASP
correctly.

Additional space was reserved for the Auxiliary data (AsData)
when copying the dump to the MSD Library (ASP). This prevents
losing AsData.
