Note: The term "package image" in the section below refers to a Debian Package Manager file, which is identified by a ".deb" suffix. This service image also contains the xCAT complete kit (which is identified by a ".bz2" suffix), and the README file.


1. If you are installing IBM Parallel Environment (IBM PE) Runtime Edition for Linux for the FIRST time, you will get the complete product by installing this service image.
   
   You will need to copy the IBM PE Runtime Edition for Linux electronic license package image from the version 2.1.0.0 CD and install it separately before installing the other package images from this service image.
   
   
2. Download the IBM PE Runtime for Linux service image into any directory on your system.
3. Unzip and extract the package images from the *.tar.gz file.
4. Install the package images on your system using the dpkg -i command. Refer to the "IBM Parallel Environment Runtime Edition Installation" document for detailed information on upgrading IBM PE Runtime Edition for Linux.
5. IBM PE Runtime for Linux supports the concurrent installation of multiple versions of the product. If this service image is installed where a previous version is already installed, this service image may not be the active version when the installation is complete. In order to deploy this version as the active version, you must run the command pelinks 2101 following the successful installation of this service image.

This service image contains the package images for the IBM Parallel Environment (IBM PE) Runtime Edition for Linux V2.1.0.1 (PERTE2101). This file contains information about the service image; for detailed information about this release please refer to the /opt/ibmhpc/pe2101/ppe.poe/READMES/poe.linux.README file or to the IBM PE Runtime Edition Installation document.

IBM PERTE2101 supports:

• IBM POWER8 systems in little-endian mode with Ubuntu Server 14.04.1 for IBM Power

This release rolls up all fixes that have gone into previous IBM PE Runtime Edition releases.

The IBM PE Runtime Edition 2.1.0.1 components are:

This service image does not contain an IBM PE Runtime Edition electronic license package image.

The electronic license package image is available from the IBM PE Runtime Edition 2.1.0.0 CD.

You need to install the IBM PE Runtime Edition license package image and run the license acceptance script if you are installing IBM PE Runtime Edition for the first time.
