Prerequisites and co-requisites
InfoSphere Warehouse release 9.7.2 must be installed in order to apply this Interim Fix.
The interim fixes are cumulative - if you have applied an earlier interim fix, those changes are included in this interim fix. The changes listed below identify whether the fix needs to be applied to the Design Studio or Administration Console.
Installation information
Prior to installation
- Copying the files for the fix to your system
(1) Extract the contents of the zip file on Windows, or the tar file on UNIX, to the InfoSphere Warehouse installation directory (DWE_HOME). A new directory named "interimfix" is created. For example on Windows, if your InfoSphere Warehouse installation directory is "C:\Program Files\IBM\ISW", then after extracting the zip file to that location, you see this directory structure: C:\Program Files\IBM\ISW interimfix + SQW_9.7.2.v20120401 +Design_Studio + features + plugins + dscomponents - applyInterimfix.bat - applyInterimfix.sh - readme.txt
Installing
- Installing the fix for the Design Studio
The install script prompts you for the location of the Design Studio components. Type S to skip over a component that you do not wish to install. For the Design Studio, you must provide a path for the following component: a) Design_Studio - ( default:/ds ) (1) Shutdown any Design Studio processes that are active on the system where you are applying this patch. (2) Change to the "interimfix\SQW_9.7.2.v20120401" directory. It contains a copy of these instructions and an executable script named applyInterimfix.bat (or applyInterimfix.sh on Unix ). The script copies the interim fix files to your computer. (3) Run the installation script. You are prompted to verify the indicated InfoSphere Warehouse installation location is correct. If the InfoSphere Warehouse installation directory was not found, specify the complete path. You are then be prompted to confirm the location of the Design Studio. For example on Windows, if your InfoSphere Warehouse installation directory is "C:\Program Files\IBM\ISW" and the default Design Studio directory is "C:\Program Files\IBM\ISW\ds": (a) When prompted for the InfoSphere Warehouse installation location, confirm the location is correct or specify a new location. The default location is "c:\Program Files\IBM\ISW". (b) When prompted to confirm about whether Design_Studio location is "c:\Program Files\IBM\ISW\ds", type "Y" to confirm or "N" to specify a new location. The script cleans and initializes the Eclipse environment. This might take several minutes. After the script completes, you can launch Design Studio using the Design Studio shortcut. (4) If the fix to the problem you are encountering requires the data flow or mining flow to be regenerated, the Design Studio cache for the flows will need to be cleared. There are three ways to accomplish this task: -- Before starting the Design Studio, delete the contents of the \ \generated-code directory EXCEPT for the java directory if you are generating mining JavaBeans. When you start the Design Studio, select all of your projects, right-click them, and choose Refresh. -- Making any change to a flow will cause the flow to be regenerated. -- From the Control Flow menu, choose Clear Cache for Generated Code and Validation and choose the option "For current and Related Flows". This needs to be repeated for all of the affected Control Flows.
- Installing the fix for the Administration Console
The install script prompts you for the location of the Administration Console components. Type S to skip over a component that you do not wish to install. For the Administration console, you must provide a path for the following component: a) dscomponents - ( default:\IBMDataTools\dscomponents ) (1) Change to the "interimfix\SQW_9.7.2.v20120401" directory. It contains a copy of these instructions and an executable script named applyInterimfix.bat (or applyInterimfix.sh on Unix ). The script copies the interim fix files to your computer. (2) Run the installation script. You are prompted to verify the indicated InfoSphere Warehouse installation location is correct. If the InfoSphere Warehouse installation directory was not found, specify the complete path. You are then be prompted to confirm the location of the dscomponents directory. For example on Windows, if your InfoSphere Warehouse installation directory is "C:\Program Files\IBM\ISW" and the default dscomponents directory is "C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01\IBMDataTools \dscomponents" : (a) When prompted for the InfoSphere Warehouse installation location, you can confirm the location is correct or specify a new location. The default location is "C:\Program Files\IBM\ISW". (b) When prompted to confirm whether the dscomponents location is "C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01\IBMDataTools \dscomponents", type "Y" to confirm or "N" to specify a new location. (3) After running script, you must clean the administration console cache manually. (a) Stop WebSphere Application Server (WAS) using the stopServer command. (b) Remove the IBMDataToolsWeb directory in WAS server cache location. For example on Windows, if your WAS install location is "E:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\" and default profile is "AppSrv01", then the cache location is "E:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\AppSrv01\ temp\$machineNameNode01\server1\IBMDataToolsWeb". (c) Start WAS using the startServer command. (d) Ensure that the browser cache is cleaned to make the fix become effective immediately: -- IE: Tools -> Internet Options -> Delete Files , Delete Cookies -- Firefox: Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Network tab -> Clear Now
