Problem

hatsd exit hb_errno=16 after upgrading Red Hat

Symptom

In a TSAMP environment, the hatsd will exit with hb_errno=16 after upgrading Red Hat

Cause

The new version of Red Hat ships the softdog module compressed.

The hatsd expects the softdog module to be softdog.ko but now is softdog.ko.xz

Environment

TSAMP running on Red Hat 7.2 +

Diagnosing The Problem

The hatsd will exit and with hb_errno=16 in /var/log/messages. You may also see it having problem doing a load DMS. This can result in the node rebooting by IBM.Configrm or rebooting with a DMS.

Resolving The Problem

Apply apar IJ00283 or the efix for it.

There is an efix for rsct 3.2.0.x level and a different efix for 3.2.1.x.

Both are available from IBM support.

If RSCT 3.2.0.0 - 3.2.0.13 on Linux x86_64 architecture
