Security Bulletin

Summary

This bulletin relates to the potential compromise of an encryption key that IBM Platform Symphony uses to encrypt usernames and passwords.

Vulnerability Details

IBM Platform Symphony currently uses a common encryption key to encrypt its username and password information. Any access to or compromise of the encryption key may allow perpetrators to decrypt the usernames and passwords of other accounts and/or sites. To remediate this vulnerability, a fix has been provided that allows the administrator of each IBM Platform Symphony environment to specify their own encryption key and change it periodically as needed.
