Installation Information

This section contains changes to the product's Program Directory. 2. 07/11/09 SECTION OF PROG. DIRECTORY REFERENCED: 5.4 For customer upgrading to OnDemand for z/OS V8.4 from OnDemand for OS/390 and z/OS V7.1, the OnDemand database tables must have all the maintenance installed through PTF UK24971 for Roll-up 7.1.2.9. . Customers who have not installed PTF UK24971 may use the following information to perform the table maintenance using OnDemand V8.4. PERFORM THE FOLLOWING TO VERIFY THE DATABASE MAY BE UPGRADED TO BE USED BY OnDemand V8.4. Prior to performing the database upgrade steps below, execute the following SQL to determine if any of the ARSAPP columns are currently too big to fit in the updated tables: SELECT NAME, AGID FROM ARSUSER.ARSAPP WHERE LENGTH(FIXED_VIEW) > 10698 OR LENGTH(INDEXER) > 10698 OR LENGTH(PREPROCESSOR) > 10698; If any rows are returned, DO NOT CONTINUE and contact IBM Support for assistance. The columns will need to be reduced in size before the databases are accessible by OnDemand V8.4. NEW ars.cfg PARAMETERS Three ars.cfg settings were delivered by the 7.1.2.9 roll-up: 1. ARS_USER_EXITS_DIR If specified, this causes OnDemand to look in the specified directory for user exits. Note: If ARS_USER_EXITS_DIR is specified, this is the only directory OnDemand will search. It will not fall back to /usr/lpp/ars/V8R4M0/bin/exits if the userexit cannot be loaded. 2. ARSMVS_TABLESPACE_COMPRESS=YES | NO ARSMVS_TABLESPACE_TRACKMOD=YES | NO Will cause OnDemand to put a COMPRESS YES | NO and/or a TRACKMOD YES | NO clause on the CREATE TABLESPACE for the application group data table tablespaces. DATABASE UPGRADE Upgrading customers will need to perform the following steps before accessing the existing OnDemand database using OnDemand V8.4. Customers will need to have a database backup and recovery plan implemented prior to performing this procedure: 1. Stop all OnDemand V7.1 activity on databases being upgraded to V8.4. 1. Customize and execute the ARSTSPCC member of SARSINST to create the additional tablespaces. 3. Backup the OnDemand Database or make sure a current backup is available. 4. Run the following commands from the /usr/lpp/ars/V8R4M0/bin directory. 1) Run "arsdb <-I instance_name> -vx ARSSYS" 2) Run "arsdb <-I instance_name> -vx ARSAPP" 3) Run "arsdb <-I instance_name> -vd ARSSYS" 4) Run "arsdb <-I instance_name> -vd ARSAPP" 5) Run "arsdb <-I instance_name> -vc ARSSYS" 6) Run "arsdb <-I instance_name> -vc ARSAPP" 7) Run "arsdb <-I instance_name> -vi ARSSYS" 8) Run "arsdb <-I instance_name> -vi ARSAPP" 9) Run "arsdb <-I instance_name> -vu" 5. Start the OnDemand V8.4 servers and related functions. 1. 07/11/09 SECTION OF PROG. DIRECTORY REFERENCED: 2.2 The IBM CICS Client for IBM DB2 Content Manager OnDemand for MultiPlatform Customers using the CICS Client with OnDemand for OS/390 and z/OS V7.1 will need to upgrade to the CICS Client V8400 for use with OnDemand for z/OS V8.4. Please follow the instructions in the Program Directory to acquire this version of the CICS Client. The OnDemand Workstation Client The OnDemand Workstation Client V8.4.0.1 must be used with OnDemand for z/OS V8.4. The OnDemand Client & Admin Client V8.4.0.1 may be downloaded using URL ftp://service.software.ibm.com/software/ondemand/fixes/v840 This version of the client will be available with fixpack 8.4.0.1 for OnDemand for MultiPlatform V8.4. The OnDemand Web Admin client (ODWA) available with OnDemand MultiPlatform V8.4 The OnDemand Web Admin client (ODWA) available with OnDemand MultiPlatform V8.4 will need to be at the MultiPlatform fixpack 8.4.0.1 level to be used to administer OnDemand for z/OS V8.4 servers.

Documentation Changes

This section outlines major errors in the product's published documentation. 1. 08/12/03 Correction to Configuration Guide SC19-1212-00, c1912120.pdf chapter 5 page 22: "The HFS directory structure /usr/lpp/ars/V8R4M0 may not be changed." is an incorrect statement. That statement should now read: "Do not change the HFS directory structure /usr/lpp/ars/V8R4M0. If you want to use an alternate mountpoint, ensure that all the directories below /usr/lpp/ars/V8R4M0 are available at the location where the HFS is mounted. For example, if you take the HFS that is mounted at /usr/lpp/ars/V8R4M0 and mount it at directory /xxx, you should have new directories such as /xxx/bin, /xxx/bin/exits, and /xxx/config."
