General Information

THIS SECTION CONTAINS INFORMATION THAT IS OF GENERAL INTEREST DURING DEVICE INSTALLATION. 1. 11/07/12 The migration to the IBM zEnterprise 114 (z114) processor must be planned with regard to your current system software and processor hardware levels. If you are skipping generations of processor hardware during your migration to the z114 processor, then you must go to the PSP buckets for those generations to ensure that you have all the software requirements that must be installed prior to installing the z114 software requirements on your system. You must also perform any necessary migration actions for those skipped generations of processors. z900/z800 to z114. If you are migrating from a z900 or z800 server, then refer to the z990/z890 (2084DEVICE or 2086DEVICE), z9 EC/BC (2094DEVICE or 2096DEVICE), z10 EC/BC (2097DEVICE or 2098DEVICE) and z196 (2817DEVICE) PSP buckets for required software support at your z/OS level in addition to the service listed in the Software Service Levels section (below). HIS SECTION CONTAINS THE MINIMUM REQUIRED SOFTWARE PRODUCT LEVELS REQUIRED TO SUPPORT THIS DEVICE. 12. 12/09/19 Added APAR/PTF information for Coupling Facility updates which provide performance improvements and protection against lost cross-invalidation signals for coupling facility cache structures as well as additional non-disruptive capabilities to allow for capturing and collecting of extended diagnostic structure data. - Performance improvements for coupling facility cache structures to avoid flooding the CF cache with changed data and to avoid excessive delays and backlogs for cast-out processing. - Verification of local cache controls for a CF cache structure connector are performed during registration of connection interest in a data item to protect against lost cross-invalidation signals. - Capabilities are provided to allow for capturing and collecting of extended diagnostic structure data from CF structures that have encountered an error that are non-disruptive and performed in the background.
