THIS SECTION CONTAINS THE MINIMUM REQUIRED SOFTWARE PRODUCT LEVELS REQUIRED TO SUPPORT THIS DEVICE. 12.11/11/22 Added APAR/PTF information for z/OS V1R12 and z/OS V1R11, for System z High Performance FICON (zHPF) to support certain I/O transfers for workloads using QSAM, BPAM, and BSAM access methods. This will also provide improvements for DB2 list prefetch processing, which in turn is expected to provide significant performance improvements for certain DB2 queries and some DB2 utility operations. Please note that you must install Firmware Driver 79. 8. 09/09/29 Updated Item 1 to change the z/OS V1R10 and z/OS V1R11 BCPii MCL level from MCL129 to MCL156 in EC N10970. 7. 09/09/24 Added z/OS V1R11 software service information to Item 1; this includes information updates for BCPii and OSA Express 3. 6. 09/08/20 The following APARs/PTFs are required to provide the function necessary to exploit the zHPF Multi-Track feature of the DS8000. With these PTFs installed z/OS will recognize when the target devices support the new zHPF Multi-Track capability. Access method requests (VSAM,PDSE, zFS, DB2, Non-VSAM Extended Format)to read or write data spanning more than one track will be allowed, up to 64K. Please refer to the z/OS R9 & R10 APAR/PTF tables in Item 1, below, to get the necessary PTFs. 5. 09/06/09 A worldwide port name (WWPN) prediction tool is now available to assist you with preplanning of your Storage Area Network (SAN) environment prior to the installation of your System z10 server. This standalone tool is designed to allow you to setup your SAN in advance, so that you can be up and running much faster once the server is installed. The tool assigns WWPNs to each virtual Fibre Channel Protocol (FCP) channel/port using the same WWPN assignment algorithms a system uses when assigning WWPNs for channels utilizing N_Port Identifier Virtualization (NPIV). From the currently accessed IODF, you can export the FCP channel/device specific part of the I/O configuration into a comma-separated value (CSV) format. The generated file can be used as input to the WWPN Prediction tool to assign worldwide port names to virtualize FCP ports for configuring SAN devices. The WWPN prediction tool can be downloaded from Resource Link and is applicable to all FICON channels defined as CHPID type FCP (for communication with SCSI devices). http://www.ibm.com/servers/resourcelink/ Please refer to the z/OS V1R8,R9,R10 APAR/PTF tables in Item 1, below, to get the necessary HCD PTF. 4. 09/06/02 The PTF for APAR OA25426, PTF UA47493, along with underlying firmware support (identified below), now enables Base Control Program internal interface (BCPii). With BCPii, IBM provides an easy-to-use high-level programmable interface that can be utilized by any z/OS authorized application running in any address space to perform HMC-like functions, while eliminating potential security concerns by communicating directly to the HMC/SE through the operating system and not requiring the HMC network to be connected to any intranet/internet network.
