Error description

  • Some I/O issued as a result of a VARY OFFLINE command to DASD
devices do not work through a hardware reserve on another LPAR.
So, this can cause the completion of some portions of the VARY
OFFLINE request to hang behind reserves. These hangs are not in
the main processing of a VARY command issued by the end user but
could result in hangs for future commands or VARY OFFLINE
    requests created by the system.

    ****************************************************************
Some I/O issued as a result of actions taken during VARY OFFLINE
commands to DASD devices have the potential to be delayed due to
a hardware reserve held for the device by another LPAR. In some
instances, this can result in the unexpected delay of VARY
OFFLINE operations requested by the HYPERSWAP RESUME command.

Comments

  • Several I/O issued in response to actions of the VARY OFFLINE
command were updated to use an equivalent I/O operation which
would not be delayed due to a reserve held by another LPAR.
This prevents the potential for delays in the processing of
    VARY OFFLINE requests.
