VM66384: PEVM66120 SMSTATUS STOPS ON NO DIRECTORY MANAGER MESSAGE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• SMSTATUS incorrectly if a directory manager is not configured
  in the DMSSISVR NAMES.  The entry in DMSSISVR NAMES is optional
  but with APAR VM66120 / PTF UM35292, SMSTATUS incorrectly exits
  if the server value is not defined.

  Running SMSTATUS may fail on either z/VM 6.4 after installing
  APAR VM66120 / PTF UM35292 or on z/VM 7.1.0.  The problem
  occurs when there is no DMGR type server defined in the DMSSISVR
  NAMES.  The DMGR type server identifies an optional directory
  manager service that can be started at SMAPI initialization. If
  there is no DMGR type server defined, SMSTATUS exits with an
  error and does not build a complete SMSTATUS report.
  

Problem conclusion

• VM66120 is in error.  APAR VM66120 is in the base of z/VM 7.1.
  The DMGR check in SMSTATUS is changed to simply issue an
  informational message stating that there is no optional
  directory manager defined in DMSSISVR NAMES. This message is
  written to the console and SMSTATUS continues on to produce its
  diagnostic report.
