APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • Several guests were running, some with PCIe devices
attached.  From OPERATOR a DETACH of a PCI function was
done immediately followed by an ATTACH.  ABENDSIT002
occurred at this point.

Local fix

  • Don't issue DETACH/ATTACH sequence

Quick detach and reattach of PCI functions for guest operating
systems was found to cause occasional HTT001 and SIT002 abends
which were the result of mishandled PCI function control blocks.

Problem conclusion

  • Code was added in these cases to either restore addressability
to or check the validity of the control blocks.  This addressed
the possible abend conditions.
