    ****************************************************************
Due to a new flag that was incorrectly set by default, users of
FLASHCOPY with extent space efficient target devices were
experiencing increased response time and occasional command
reject I/O errors during FLASHCOPY ESTABLISH commands. The
flag should only have been set on the I/O to ESTABLISH the
    relationship in certain use cases.

Problem conclusion

  • The flag which changed the behavior for extent space efficient
targets was updated to no longer be set by default. A new
ALLOCATE operand was created for FLASHCOPY ESTABLISH to allow
it to be set if needed for certain use cases. In addition,
the code which issues the HCP6431 messages was updated so they
now have the proper E suffix when displayed.

    Publication Changes:

    CP Commands and Utilities Reference

FLASHCOPY ESTABLISH is updated to describe the new ALLOCATE
operand which causes extents to be pre-allocated for extent
    space efficient target devices.
