VM66140: FORMATTING ISSUE WITH MINIDISK ON EAV DASD

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The customer is using LXFMT to format minidisks on EAV DASD.
  If the minidisk spans real cylinder 65535 the minidisk is
  incorrectly formatted.

  HCPMD5 may flag cylinder 65535 as invalid on a EAV minidisk.
  Virtual cylinder 65535 may be flagged invalid for a large
  minidisk if cylinder 65535 is explicitly stated in the virtual
  DEFINE EXTENT CCW.  The result is that command chaining will be
  turned off and the rest of the channel program will not execute.
  This problem will not occur if Fast CCW Translation handles the
  channel program. Therefore, the problem can appear intermittent.
  

Problem conclusion

• HCPMD5DX has been updated.  Cylinder 65535 will not be flagged
  as invalid on a EAV minidisk.
