    ****************************************************************
With the PTF for APAR VM66105, the z/VM hypervisor has been
enhanced with capability for external performance management
tools to control access to CPU resources to achieve workload
    goals.

Comments

  • CPU Pools are renamed to Resource Pools and the commands that
have operand CPUPOOL have been superseded by new commands that
have operand RESPOOL. Associated command responses and messages
have been changed to reflect this change. The original commands
are still supported, but return RESPOOL responses.

The changes to the CPU pool (resource pool) support introduce
an incompatibility in the output of the QUERY RESPOOL/CPUPOOL
response. They also add a limit of 1000 members of a resource
    pool.

*VMEVENT support is added for two new class 0 event types.

A new COMMAND operand on the MONITOR EVENT command is added to
allow records for events produced by commands to be collected
without having to collect other records in the domains that are
generated at much higher frequency and produce substantial
    amounts of data.

Six new function codes for the STHYI instruction are added to
access hypervisor, resource pool, and guest information, and new
user directory options to authorize a virtual machine to invoke
    the STHYI functions.

This PTF should be applied along with PTF UV99330 for the
    related DirMaint APAR VM66109.

z14 customers should have D32L Bundle S26 installed for valid
data to be returned for STHYI FC=1 field INF1PAR.INF1PMTII and
    Monitor record D0 R16 field SYTCUP_LCXCMTIT.
