This APAR (VM65677) ships Stand-alone Dump changes necessary to
support new environments that are created by CP APAR VM65586.
With VM65586, z/VM provides host exploitation support for the
simultaneous multithreading (SMT) facility on the IBM z13,
which will enable z/VM to dispatch work on up to two threads
(logical CPUs) of an IFL processor core. This APAR only
provides benefit when dumping systems that are running with
SMT enabled in Linux-only partitions with IFL cores on the
new IBM z13 system, but can be used in all supported
configurations. Stand-alone dump will work as it did before
in all other configurations. When run on a z13 processor
against Linux-only partition consisting of IFL cores that
are running z/VM with multithreading enabled (refer to APAR
VM65586), the store status information of non-thread 0
    processors will be dumped.

To use this support, you must also install APAR VM65676 in the
CMS component which contains replacement IMAGE files. Three
of those files (SSPI71, SSPK71 and SSPP71), along with the
SADU71 IMAGE file shipped by this APAR, are used by the SDINST
utility to install the stand-alone dump program to DASD.

Note that if compatible image files are not used when running
    SDINST, the following error occurs.
      ...
      HCPSDI8625E IMAGE FILE MISMATCH.
HCPSDI8696E AN UNEXPECTED ERROR HAS OCCURRED AND STAND-ALONE
DUMP INSTALLATION HAS BEEN ABORTED. YOU MAY RE-IPL CMS.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

  • FOR RELEASE VM/ESA CP/ESA R630 :
    PREREQ: VM65466
    CO-REQ: NONE
    IF-REQ: NONE

Comments

  • Code in SADU71 IMAGE was changed to be compatible with code
in the SSP*71 IMAGE files that are shipped by APAR VM65676.
Also, some minor code changes were done so that additional
debug information is included in the log record of the
    generated dump.
