Error description

  • ACB_TYPE Control Block storage buildup in Subpool 0 Key 6,
    eventually leading to an out of storage condition and an
    Abend878-04. The dump submitted is a console dump of the TCPIP
    address space (not an Abend878 dump), which shows the storage
    buildup. In the dump, approximately 24 meg is allocated to the
    ACBs in x'2000' byte chunks, with associated FQEs of x'10'
    bytes - and continuing to grow.

    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The ACB pool is slowly being depleted because the ACBs that are
    used are not being freed. This will eventually lead to an out of
    storage condition which results in Abend878-04.

Problem conclusion

  • TCP/IP was changed to first verify that we have a HIPPI ACB
    using subtasking before we set the DontFreeAcb to true.
