Error description

  • When looking at the CHIN joblog together with the dump,
    there was an increase in CHIN CPU utilization due to a
    leak of rriAccept control blocks which occurs when
    rriAcceptSess gets a comms error trying to receive the
    initial flow from the client, as reported by message
    CSQX209E.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: High CPU seen in IEAVESLL and increased *
    * storage usage in channel initiator *
    *                      address space.                          *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    When a channel connects but fails during initial negotiation, an
    internal control block may not be freed at channel termination.

    If a large number of channels experience such a failure over the
    lifetime of the channel initiator address space then the
    unreleased storage blocks may begin to impact the time taken to
    obtain storage resulting in increased CPU costs and higher
    storage utilization.

Problem conclusion

  • Processing has been amended to ensure that the control block is
    always released following a failure during channel negotiation.
