PM87873: MSGIZUD999E AND MSGIZUD9019E DURING SOFTWARE INSTANCE COMPARISON

APAR status

Error description

• When comparing one of more Target zones within a Software
  Instance that has many defined Target zones, an out of memory
  condition can occur.
  IZUD999E: The request could not be completed because an error
  occurred.
  And in IZUG0.log:
  SEVERE:IZUD9019E: The request could not be completed because an
  error occurred. Error: null java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: null
  or
  SEVERE:IZUD9019E: The request could not be completed because an
  error occurred. Error: Java heap space
  java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
  
  The software instance comparison report is collecting a list of
  SYSMODs for every target zone in the instance, even those not
  selected for comparison, which can cause the out of memory
  errors.

  The Software Instance Comparison report produces a report
  containing a list of sysmods that exist in one instance and not
  in another. When the report was created, a list of sysmods was
  being generated for each zone defined in the instance. For
  instances that had many zones, this list could be very large if
  the zones contained many sysmods.  Processing for this report
  has been modified to only collect information for a zone if it
  is one of the comparison zones specified by the user.
  

Problem conclusion

• The RegReqInstance class was modified to retrieve a list of
  sysmods only for the comparison zones specified by the user.
