APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • If a Telnet USS table is coded such that a system symbolic
occupies the very last bytes of the table and the symbolic
is not bounded by an optional delimiter, a loop results in
    module EZBTPUSW.

Local fix

  • Do one of the following:
    1) Remove the system symbolic from the end of the USS table.
    2) Add a period as an ending delimiter to the symbol.
    3) Add a blank after the symbol.

    ****************************************************************
The problem may be summarized as follows:
    1. A customer's Telnet USS table (such as EZBTPUST) was coded
with system symbolics in it such that a system symbolic
occupied the very last bytes of a USSMSG.
    2. The system symbolic was not followed by the optional ending
       delimiter - a period.
    3. The substituted value for the symbolic name was shorter than
       the symbolic name.
    4. A loop occurred in EZBTPUSW when trying to send this USSMSG.

Problem conclusion

  • EZBTPUSW has been updated to correctly process a USSMSG with
a system symbolic that occupies the very last bytes of a USSMSG.
