APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The WebSphere MQ process amqfqpub has high CPU usage immediately
    after starting the queue manager.

The fix for the root cause of the issue is in APAR IV26834.

This APAR adds further protection to the product code, to avoid
    the infinite loop in future.

Local fix

  • Disable Pub/Sub function: alter the queue manager parameter
    PSMODE to COMPAT or DISABLED.

Problem summary

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: High CPU usage in the channel initiator *
    * in the Queued Pub/Sub Daemon when an *
    * error occurs in startup processing. *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
This error potentially affects all users of queue managers which
have the queued publish subscribe process running (PSMODE
ENABLED) when an error occurs in startup processing.

In some circumstances where an error has occurred elsewhere in
the publish/subscribe components, invalid parameters passed to
the queued publish/subscribe process can trigger a loop
condition which causes the Queued Pub/Sub Daemon process in
    fmiBuildStreamsSupported to consume high CPU.

Problem conclusion

  • The fix for the only known root cause of this issue is included
    with APAR PM69557.

This APAR adds further protection to the product code, to avoid
    the infinite loop in future.
