Error description

  • Customer has z/os asynchronous S722 abend, caused by
exceeded in the maximum number of SYSOUT lines. It was abended
'from the outside' by z/OS. It had just executed the CS
instruction and put zero into DMACOPNA. So we abend and DBFATRM0
gets control to do cleanup. However, EPSTR3_OPNA is still set.
So in DBFATRM0, we goto DBFELOCK FREE trying to relaease OPNA
latch, and it abend because DMACOPNA is zero.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABEND S0C4 in DBFATRM0 RELELOCK caused *
    *                      by an asynchronous Z/OS S722 abend.     *

    ****************************************************************
After the Z/OS abend, which was caused "from the outside", a
CS instruction was executed which in turn put a zero in
    DMACOPNA.
DBFATRM0 gets control to do cleanup. However, EPSTR3_OPNA is
still set. So in DBFATRM0, we goto DBFELOCK FREE trying to
release the OPNA latch, and it abended because DMACOPNA
    is zero.

Problem conclusion

  • GEN:
    KEYWORDS:

    *** END IMS KEYWORDS ***

DBFATRM0 - Code has been added in routine RELELOCK for FREE OPNA
(open area) FREE ELOCK. It now checks if DMACOPNA is
non-zero before it frees the lock, to prevent any
               further S0C4s.
