APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The CurrentConnections value reported for the listener socket
for a web server using FRCA caching may be incorrect.
Connections that have been served totally from the cache that
are closed when the persistent connection timer (the
PersistTimeout value in the HTTP configuration) expires are not
being removed from the count. If clients are letting this time
elapse before closing the connection, the reported value will
    always be growing.

This will affect the value in the NETSTAT ALL report for this
listener, the SMF server statistics (SMF119SP_TCNumConns), and
    SNMP queries for the port.

Local fix

  • Setting PersistTimeout to 0 will disable this feature, but may
    have performance impacts.

    ****************************************************************
FRCA enabled listener count of current connections is not
decremented when the persist timer expires.

The FRCA enabled web server has a persistence time configured.
A client connects and fails to send in a complete request or
sends in one or more requests that are serviced from the cache.
The client does not disconnect before the persist timer
expires, causing the connection to be closed from the local
side. The connection state change fails to decrement the
    listener's current connection count.

Problem conclusion

  • The FRCA persist timer routine in EZBTCPTM has been amended to
decrement the listener's current connection count.
