APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Program abends during FREE processing for an AREA variable when
  LE MEMCHECK run-time option is active.
  

Local fix

• Do not specify/use MEMCHECK.

  The Enterprise PL/I library did not free the heap storage using
  the same corresponding service which was used in the get
  process.
  

Problem conclusion

• The Enterprise PL/I library has been modified to use the right
  free heap storage service.
  
  Note that if the user decides to manage their own HEAP storage
  by either using the HEAPPOOLS option or using the Vendor Heap
  Manager (VHM), there would not be any storage signal raised when
  free against an already freed storage area is attempted.
