Error description
ABENDS4C5 Reason 74FF2000 (TcpitProcStackExceeded in EZBITDSA) can occur when multiple internal routines within EZBTCUTL are called that have external entry points due to slight increase in dynamic storage allocation from PTF UK82041. Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the IBM Communications Server * * for z/OS Version 1 Release(s) 13 IP * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Abend4C5 rsn74ff2000 in EZBITDSA with * * PM71528/UK82041 installed. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** Abend4C5 rsn74ff2000 in EZBITDSA with PM71528/UK82041 installed. The error occurs on a local TCP connection when SMFCONFIG TCPTERM and/or NETMONITOR TCPCONNSERVICE is configured in the profile. A timing condition exists where the packet flow on a local TCP connection finds one end of the connection has been deleted. This causes a RST packet to be generated and sent back to the TCP inbound processing path under the same unit of work. When the RST packet is processed an external call to EZBTCUTL is made to clean up resources associated with the connection. During the clean up process an external call to another routine in EZBTCUTL is made to generate a termination record. While creating the termination record an external call to another routine in EZBTCUTL is made to format the data. A call is then made to EZBITSCB to record the termination record but the dynamic storage is exhausted. A call is made to EZBITDSA to expand the dynamic storage and the S4C5 abend is issued because there is already one expansion associated with this unit of work. The code changes in PM71528 increased the dynamic storage requirements for all external calls to EZBTCUTL by a small amount. The dynamic storage requirements in the error path prior to PM71528 was very close to the limit. The increase in dynamic storage by PM71528 and the 3 external calls to EZBTCUTL in the error path caused the dynamic storage to exceed the limit. +-------------------------------------------------------------+ + Please check our Communications Server for OS/390 homepages + + for common networking tips and fixes. Problem conclusion
EZBITDSA has been amended to allow an additional dynamic storage expansion area. * Cross Reference between External and Internal Names
