PM76794: IMS CONNECT VIRTUAL STORAGE IS FILLED WITH IMS CONNECT EXTENSIONS CONTROL BLOCKS FOR OPEN PORTS AND EVENTUALLY ABENDS.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• IMS Connect is supposed to issue Event 03 when it opens a Port
  and event 04 when it closes a Port.  IMS Connect Extensions
  creates a control block when the Port is opened and frees the
  control block when the Port is closed - based on receiving
  Events 03 and 04.
  
  If an OPENPORT command is issued IMS Connect issues Event 03 and
  tries to open the Port.  If the open fails Event 04 is not
  issued.
  
  In this case this customer has automation to try to open a
  Port which was not available on this system.  This eventually
  filled storage with IMS Connect Extensions control blocks.
  

Local fix

• IMS Connect Extensions APAR PM58471 will prevent IMS Connect
  Extensions from filling up storage with Port control blocks for
  the same Port.

  IMS Connect Virtual Storage was full when IMS Connect
  Extension installed, which caused ABENDS92A. This was
  because IMS Connect created event X'03' when it tried to
  open a port, but was not creating event x'04' when the
  opening of the port failed. Since IMS Connect extensions
  kept tracking all open ports thus the storage was filled.
  

Problem conclusion

  during the initialization, so IMS Connect will create event
  x'04' consequently.
