APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • User is doing a FIND ALL during the Browse of a Hogan Unit AIF
database. Increasing the region size got them around this
abend, however, insufficient region size should not result in
a S0C4. The S0C4 is in FMNEDIT6 at offset X'5F92' on a TM
instruction:  91683035 -- with R3 being bad.

Local fix

  • Increasing to a very large TSO logon region size circumvented
the problem.

FM/IMS was incorrectly resetting an internal pointer while
saving the state of the editor before the Find command, leading
to invalid storage references which may manifest as either
an abends0c4 or a cpu consuming loop.

Problem conclusion

  • FM/IMS has been modified to correct this problem.
