Error description
If an FTP client connects to the z/OS server, attempts to send data to a new generation of a GDG, and the transfer fails; the FTP server may attempt to delete the wrong generation when cleaning up after the failure. This could manifest itself in other ways, but one scenario yields the following error messages: seq_delete_file: SVC99 ALLOC failed with rc 12 seq_delete_file: S99ERROR = 0394

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the IBM Communications Server * * for z/OS Version 1 Release(s) 12 and 13 * * IP: FTP * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: A FTP transfer attempts to store into * * a GDG(+1). The data connection opens, * * but the client never sends in any data. * * FTP times out the receive, but an error * * occurs when attempting to delete the * * GDG. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** SVC99() is using GDG structure to delete the GDG file. For store into a GDG(+1), the status and GDG_mem in GDG structure is incorrect so that the error occurs and the GDG(+1) is not deleted. +-------------------------------------------------------------+ + Please check our Communications Server for OS/390 homepages + + for common networking tips and fixes.
