Error description
mlJesDo_HDRS messages issued by CSSMTP while debug level 63 is active are corrupted by residual message output at the end of the messages. It appears that the same buffer was used for all the corrupted messages, and the buffer was not cleared before each message was moved into it: Consequently, if the current line being moved into the buffer was shorter than the previous line, residual content from the end of the previous line was appended to the end of the current line.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All users of the IBM Communications Server * * for z/OS Version 1 Release(s) 11 and 12 * * IP: CSSMTP * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: CSSMTP log messages with the label * * mlJesDo_HDRS may contain residual data * * at the end of the message if you code * * Translate as something other than * * IBM-1047. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** The problem can be summarized as follows: 1. CSSMTP was configured with: LogLevel 31 or above and Translate as something other than IBM-1047 2. CSSMTP processed a mail file where one header was shorter than a preceding header. 3. When the shorter header was translated and written to the CSSMTP log (as a result of LogLevel 31), it had residual data from the longer header at the end of the mlJesDo_HDRS log message. 4. The mail was sent correctly. For example, the following mail file: HELO Host MAIL FROM:<[email protected]> RCPT TO:<[email protected]> DATA FROM: <[email protected]> TO: <[email protected]> SUBJECT: TEST EMAIL TEST . would have the following mlJesDo_HDRS log messages: mlJesDo_HDRS: 5: FROM: <[email protected]> mlJesDo_HDRS: 6: TO: <[email protected]>n> mlJesDo_HDRS: 7: SUBJECT: TEST EMAILomain>n> +-------------------------------------------------------------+ + Please check our Communications Server for OS/390 homepages + + for common networking tips and fixes.
