PM55001: CSSMTP NOT SENDING ERROR REPORT TO MAILADMINISTRATOR WHEN JES3 IS USED

Obtain the fix for this APAR.

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The EXTWRTNAME parameter is used to specify the external writer
  CSSMTP uses to process its mail data sets from JES spool.  The
  extwrtname is being used as the DESTINATION on error reports and
  not the external writer.  Therefore, CSSMTP will not be able to
  retrieve error reports from the JES3 spool and send them to the
  MailAdministrator.
  Verification Steps:
  - Submit SYSOUT file with error and execute F cssmtp,D,SPOOLST
  - Verify that the EXTWRTNAME is specifed in the DESTINATION
  field and not in the EXTWTR field.

    The problem can be summarized as follows:
  1. CSSMTP was running on a system using JES3.
  2. CSSMTP was configured with Report ADMIN and a valid e-mail
     address for MailAdministrator.
  3. CSSMTP processed a mail file was sent that had an error in
     it.
  4. CSSMTP wrote an error report but it did not get sent to
     the MailAdministrator.  Instead it stayed on the JES3 spool
     with a destination of the CSSMTP ExtWrtName.

Problem conclusion

• CSSMTP has been changed to create the error report with the
  CSSMTP ExtWrtName in the EXTWTR field instead of the destination
  field.  This will allow CSSMTP to process the error report on
  the JES spool even when the JES3 spool class is HELD.
