Error description
ABEND0C4 in DFSRPG00 DURING IMS COLD START. PTM to APAR conversion for KC30600 .
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All IMS V12 users with IMSRSC repository. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When the IMSRSC repository is empty * * and there are no system RDDSs defined * * or no MODBLKS data sets defined, * * and AUTOIMPORT=AUTO, IMS coldstart * * gets an ABEND0C4 in DFSRPG00. * * * * ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS: * * 1. After autoimport from the IMSRSC * * repository, the PGMDESC resources do * * not show the correct value for RGNTYPE. * * * * 2. When repository is not empty and * * and AUTOIMPORT=AUTO, sometimes there * * is extra DFS3423E message issued in * * error. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: INSTALL CORRECTIVE SERVICE FOR APAR/PTF * **************************************************************** When AUTOIMPORT=AUTO and IMS is defined with IMSRSC repository that is empty and there is no system RDDS or no MODBLKS defined, DFSIP300 is issuing the following message correctly. DFS3403W AUTOMATIC IMPORT IS DISABLED RC=8 IMS1 However, DFSIP300 also returns back with RC=0 as the default descriptors are created. This results in the lower level modules being called and an abend in DFSRPG00. The lower level modules should not be called to initialize the resources as there are no resources created as the repository is empty and there is no system RDDSs or MODBLKS data sets. The RGNTYPE values for the PGMDESC imported from the IMSRSC repository is not the same always. Sometimes it is BMP and sometimes it is IFP and sometimes blank. When AUTOIMPORT=AUTO and repository is not empty, sometimes there is extra DFS3423E message issued when adding the DB descriptors for the 2nd time.
Problem conclusion
GEN: KEYWORDS: *** END IMS KEYWORDS *** Logic is modified in DFSIP300 to not create the default descriptors if AUTOIMPORT=AUTO even if there is no system RDDS or MODBLKS. RC=8 is returned to caller and this results in the DFSRPS20 calling DFSRIMP0 to autoimport COLD. The default descriptors get created in this path along with other DB initialization in DFSRDB30. When PGMDESC resources are autoimported, the pointer to the repository data is incremented twice resulting in errors in the PGMDESC descriptor values. The extra increment of the pointer is deleted. Logic is modified in DFSIP300 to reset the flags in the DFA for MODBLKS or RDDS if the repository is not empty. This results in the lower level modules not called for the 2nd time to create descriptors and the DFS3423E message to not be issued in error. The IMS Messages and codes manual has the following changes: For message DFS3397E add the following RC 44 No resources were imported from the IMSRSC repository as - the repository is empty and AUTOIMPORT=REPO is specified. IMS coldstart continues with no resources imported. - there is an error processing resource definitions read from the IMSRSC repository. Action is taken based on IMPORTERR= specification. For message DFS3403W, RC=8, modify description as follows. 8 - You had specified AUTOIMPORT=AUTO, but you did not have any resource definition data sets (RDDS) defined and no MODBLKS data set exists. If IMS is defined with the IMSRSC repository, then the IMSRSC repository is empty.
