Error description
The customer has ATSIGN set to B5. A command is received with the lowercase text "mail from:" in the header. After conversion to code page IBM-273, the AT sign in the path name is x'B5', With ATSIGN=B5, this should get changed to x'7C'. However, a code defect prevents the ATSIGN replacement if the first 4 bytes of the header is not in uppercase (e.g. "MAIL FROM:"). This causes that path name verification to fail with rc=11: 03/08 10:35:51 TCPCSMTP ERROR :026:mlJesVerifyPath:Path='<userid||x'B5'||hostname>' rc=11
Local fix
Use uppercase headers such as "MAIL FROM:" and "RCPT TO:".
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * All users of the IBM Communications Server for z/OS Version * * 2 Release 1 and Version 2 Release 2: CSSMTP * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * CSSMTP ATSIGN function does not work correctly with * * lowercase SMTP commands in a mail message. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * * Apply PTF. * **************************************************************** When CSSMTP processes a mail message which has matched configured AtSign symbol in it, a check is performed to compare the SMTP command "MAIL FROM" or "RCPT TO" with the uppercase only. The configured AtSing symbol in the mail message is not converted into the standard IBM-1047 "at sign" symbol, the mail message is rejected.
Problem conclusion
CSSMTP is modified to allow the matched configured AtSign symbol in mail message being converted into the standard IBM-1047 "at sign" symbol regardless if the SMTP commands are in uppercase or lowercase characters.
