    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:                                         *
    * Persistent VTAM ECSA storage growth as a result of prior *

TCPIP stack is enabled for IPSecurity and displacement of
IPSecurity to zIIP processors via the GLOBALCONFIG zIIP
IPSECURITY profile configuration. Enterprise Extender (EE)
traffic is flowing outbound and maps to an IPSec policy,
resulting in an SRB being scheduled to process the outbound
request on a zIIP. The EE outbound request gates the queue and
it becomes the responsibility of the zIIP SRB to ungate the
queue when it has completed the outbound operation. Some event
occurs that results in an ECSA/ESQA storage shortage causing the
schedule of the zIIP SRB to fail. The initial cause of the
storage shortage subsides, resuming normal operations on the
LPAR. The failure to successfully schedule the zIIP SRB leaves
the EE outbound queue gated. Continued EE traffic outbound
matching the gated queue fail to get processed, resulting in
storage growth for the queued traffic in the TIBUF and IOBUF
    pools.

Problem conclusion

  • EZBUDBYP has been amended to detect a significant delay in a
zIIP SRB resuming outbound processing and to allow a new
outbound request to take over responsiblity of the gated queue.
