Error description

  • The z/VSE HTTP Client (IESHTTPB/IESHTTPC) does not ASCII/EBCDIC-
translate sent or received data with a content-type of
"application/xml", although this content-type is textual.
Currently only content-types of "text/..." are treated as
    textual and are ASCII/EBCDIC-translated.

Local fix

  • Send/Receive the data in binary and perform the ASCII/EBCDIC
    translation by yourself.

The z/VSE HTTP Client (IESHTTPB/IESHTTPC) does not ASCII/EBCDIC-
translate sent or received data with a content-type of
"application/xml", although this content-type is textual.

Problem conclusion

  • The z/VSE HTTP Client has been corrected to detect textual
    content-types such as "application/xml" and ASCII/EBCDIC-
translate the data of these content-types.
A caller can now also force the ASCII/EBCDIC-translation by
using the HTTP_GET_TEXT or HTTP_POST_TEXT request types.
