APAR status

  • Closed as unreproducible in next release.

Error description

  • Client running a logon script receives MSG10 and hangs. Telnet
solicitor screen increased in size causing clients which counted
bytes received from Telnet instead of parsing the 3270 data to
fail. The solicitor screen was modified to include space for
password phrases. This APAR is a logical route of FIN APAR
    PM85497.

Local fix

  • Code a DEFAULTAPPL in the Telnet Server profile

Problem conclusion

  • An application which simply counted the number of bytes
received from Telnet instead of parsing the 3270 data
will see different behavior in v2r1 when the
solicitor screen is received. The solicitor screen was
modified to include space for password phrases.

  • A new keyword is defined to provide support for only a password
(8 bytes or less) and is sent in the same format as prior to
    z/OS v1r13.
The new keyword is DISABLEPASSWORDPHRASE. It can be specified
    on TelnetGlobals, TelnetParms, and ParmsGroup.

    EZBTDPRM, EZBTDPRU, EZBTMPRB, EZBTMPRP, EZBTMPRT,
    EZBZPRMG, EZBZSOLC, EZBZVREQ, EZASMF77, EZASMF
are all updated to allow the specification and propagation of
    the new keyword.

EZBTPSOW is updated to fix PASSPHRASE support and add
    DISABLEPASSWORDPHRASE functionaility.

EZBTMQPR is updated to allow the display of the presence of the
new keyword in PROFILE, CONN, and CLID displays.

EZBDGPRG is updated to allow TCPIPCS PROFILE to display the new
