Error description

  • DSMAX reached after PH27493 / UI71764 is applied for a COPY
SHRLEVEL REFERENCE job of a list of 4285 tablespaces or
    partitions with :

    DSNT500I <DBU2 DSNUGRAR RESOURCE UNAVAILABLE
              REASON 00C20113
              TYPE 00000220

    Additional symptoms: RC00E4010A 00E4010A MSGDSNT500I

Local fix

  • Use COPY SHRLEVEL CHANGE and OPTION(ITEMERROR,SKIP) to
avoid having all the tablespaces in the list opened at
    once.

    ****************************************************************
With PH27493/UI71764 applied, COPY utility job may end with
ABEND04E RC00E4010A due to table space or index open failure
with RNA reason code RC00C20113, when the open dataset count
    exceeds the DSMAX.
The dataset close processing logic has been improved to
proactively close datasets that were opened solely for
utility access in PH27493. When approaching DSMAX or when
DSMAX is reached, Db2 will prioritize the closure of
utility-only datasets over those datasets that have been
    accessed by applications.
However, the utility-access-only datasets are excluded from
DSMAX processing mistakenly in the enhancement of PH27493.
This causes the utility-access-only datasets to not be closed
when DSMAX is being reached, and could therefore cause dataset
open failures such as the ABEND04E RC00E4010A for the COPY
    utiility.

Problem conclusion

  • Db2 code has been modified to include and prioritize the
closure of utility-only datasets properly when approaching
DSMAX or when DSMAX is reached.
