    PE Information:
Users Affected: Users at release HBB77A0/HBB77B0 with
APAR OA53761 installed; affected PTFs are listed below.

    z/OS 2.3 UA96076
    z/OS 2.2 UA96077

User Impact: APAR OA53761 addresses an intermittant problem with
kernel timer queue elements. Under certain flow and timing
conditions, the high half of R14 is not cleared, leading to a
    bad branch and the abend0C1.

Local fix

  • Remove the PE PTF from the system; OA53761 fixed an intermittant
problem that had very low impact.

Try running the ftp job from batch.

    ****************************************************************
APAR OA53761 exposed an existing problem in BPXLUKW. The
setting of the return address in R14 for a BAKR did not clear
the high half of the 64 bit register. When the high half
happened to be dirty, the subsequent PR casued an 0C1
ABEND due to a wild branch above the bar.

Problem conclusion

  • The code setting the return address for the BAKR is changed
to set the 64 bit register.
