OA54061: ABEND 414-08 DURING CLOSE OF A NON-ENCRYPTED EXTENDED FORMAT DATASET WITH A BLOCKSIZE LESS THAN 16 17/10/09 PTF PECHANGE

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• When a non-encrypted extended format dataset is being written
  to, an i/o error can occur if the blocksize is less than 16
  bytes. Changes made to the way Media Manager is called at z/OS
  2.3 introduced an inconsistency with the size of the records
  when less than 16 bytes.
  

Local fix

• Increase blocksize to be greater than 16 bytes.

  data sets.  the code has been corrected.
