Error description
XES Lock Dataspaces Constraint Relief.
Local fix
Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: * * Installations exploiting parallel sysplex using lock or * * serialized list structures at z/OS V2R3 (HBB77B0). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: * * New function is required to relieve constraints affecting * * the maximum number of connectors to lock or serialized list * * structures from a single address space. * * * * SYSPLEXDS * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * * Install the applicable PTF on each system in the sysplex. * * A rolling IPL is sufficient to activate the fix. * **************************************************************** Connections to lock and serialized list structures have always used data spaces to contain control blocks related to processing of end-user requests. z/OS V1R7 (HBB7720) introduced additional data spaces for lock structures to relieve constraints on the number of requests that could be in progress simultaneously. It was known that this would constrain the number of connections to a structure from a single address space, which was an acceptable trade-off at that time. However, that limitation has since become more of a concern, and new function is now required to relieve that constraint.
Problem conclusion
Temporary fix
Comments
Eliminated the use of connector-related data spaces by moving applicable control blocks above the 2G bar. This greatly reduces the number of PASN-AL slots consumed by serialized connectors, relieving the constraint on the number of connectors from a given address space.
