Error description

  • New Function - Require the XRC CONTROL data set to be a minimum
of one cylinder in size and be on a cylinder boundary.

The procedure to update an existing XRC CONTROL data set:

    1. Issue the XSUSPEND command with the TIMEOUT option to suspend
the session if it is still active.
    2. If the session is coupled, issue the XCOUPLE command with the
    PURGE option to uncouple it.
    3. Make a backup copy of the old control data set.
    4. Delete the old control data set and allocate the new control
data set with new space requirements.
    5. Restart the XRC session using the XSTART command with
    SESSIONTYPE(XRC).
    6. Perform resynchronization using the normal procedures for
    your installation.).
    7. F ANTAS000,LISTSESS ALL to verify the storage control
    sessions are available.

WARNING: DO NOT SKIP THE XCOUPLE PURGE IN STEP 2. IF IT IS
SKIPPED THEN THE XSTART PROCESSING WILL XEND THE STORAGE
CONTROL SESSION BECAUSE THE CONTROL DATASET IS EMPTY.

Comments

  • A message will be produced that notifies the user if either
of the following conditions fail to be met:
    1) XRC CONTROL data set is not at least one cylinder in size.
    2) XRC CONTROL data set is not on a cylinder boundary.

The following updates will be reflected in a future revision
of z/OS MVS System Messages, Volume 1(ABA-AOM)(SA38-0668):

    1.1.1 ANTB8006W
ANTB8006W XRC SESSION(session_id) CONTROL DATA SET NOT ONE CYL
OR NOT ON A CYL BOUNDARY

Explanation: The control data set for session session_id
is not one cylinder or does not start on a cylinder boundary.

    Source: Extended Remote Copy (XRC).

System Action: XRC functions are active.

System Programmer Response: Suspend XRC session, purge any
coupled/clustered sessions, delete, reallocate the control
dataset to be one cylinder in size, and restart the session
or reference Advanced Copy Services on how to re-allocate
    existing control data sets.

The following updates will be reflected in a future revision
of the z/OS DFSMS Advanced Copy Services manual (SC23-6847):

Chapter 4. Setting up the extended remote copy environment
Section: Specifying XRC journal, control, and state date sets
Sub-section: Specifying the control data set

    Add the following bullet:
    - Allocate one cylinder of space

Modify the JCL with the following change:
    - SPACE=(CYL,(1,0))
    KEYWORDS: D/T2105 D/T2107 XRC/K
