Error description

  • After ABENDx37 there can be IEC999I message(s) and ABENDD78
or ABEND0C4 in DIV. When cleanup is attempted IFG0TC0A runs the
TCB/DEB chain to Close any OPEN DCBs. If the DCBs were part of a
PDSE module, which is under DIV control the resource manager is
called prior to IFG0TC0A, so the DCB storage has been zeroed.
IFG999I messages with a -1 after the DEB address indicating
the DCB is unavailable. If a subsequent DEB is to processed
it is possible that a CLOSE will not be issued if the DCBOVLAY
bit has been set. This will result in PDSE(s) not being
properly Closed and ABENDD78 or ABEND0C4 in DIV.

    ****************************************************************
At task termination, IFG0TC0A runs the TCB DEB chain and
issues SVC20 CLOSE against the DCB/ACB pointed to by
each DEB. One of these DEBs points to a PDSE DCB page loaded
into DIV storage. The DIV resource manager gets control prior
to task close freemains and zeros the DCB storage. This results
in IEC999I...DEBADDR-1 indicating the DCB storage was
freemained. IFG0TC0A incorrectly does not issue CLOSE
against the DCBs pointed to by the subsequent DEBs
in the chain. If one of these DCBs is for a PDSE paged loaded
into DIV this subsequently leads to abendd78 or abend0c4
    in DIV.

Problem conclusion

  • In the above scenario Task Close will continue to issue CLOSE
against the DCBs pointed to by subsequent DEBs in the chain.
