    *                 MAS.                                         *

    *                      changed to recognize JES2 release       *
    *                      HJE77B0 as a valid member to co-exist   *
    *                      within a multi-access spool (MAS)       *

    ****************************************************************
    $HASPEQU is updated to specify HJE77B0 as the highest valid
    release that can coexist in a JES2 MAS. If this APAR is not
    applied, message MSGHASP710 will be issued when attempting to
    initialize an HJE77B0 member in a MAS with an HJE7790 or HJE77A0
    member (or vice versa).
    In addition, the JES2 service level, J2SLVL, has been increased.
    Releases of JES2 prior to HJE7790 cannot coexist in a MAS with
    HJE77B0.

Comments

  • TYPE/RESTART(WARM) IPL/REQUIRED(YES) CLPA(YES)
    CLPA is needed only if HASCxxxx modules currently reside in
    the pageable link pack area (PLPA).
    $HASPEQU is updated to specify HJE77B0 as the highest level of
    JES2 that can exist in a MAS. The JES2 service level is updated
    to indicate a new service level exists.
    If you do not have this APAR on all members of the MAS or have
    any MAS members at a level prior to HJE7790 you may experience
    various problems under the following circumstances:
     - a member of the MAS is updated to HJE77B0.
     - the HJE77B0 member processes work, updating the checkpoint,
       expands the checkpoint limits, or stores output to spool.
     - the HJE77B0 member is changed back to a prior release.
    In the above circumstances some of the symptoms you may
    experience are:
      - $HASP095 JES2 CATASTROPHIC ABEND. CODE = S0C4 (RC=00000011)
      - Dependent jobs could execute prematurely.
      - Notifications requested via NOTIFY JCL statements may
        not occur
    .
    Toleration code was added in support of Email Notification
    function introduced in V2R3.
    Toleration code was added in support of NET JES3 JECL
    statement function and Dependent Job Control (DJC) function
    introduced in V2R3.
    .
    .
    Starting in z/OS V2R3, new NOTIFY JCL statement may request
    a job notification message to be sent when a job is no
    longer eligible for execution. The code for pre-z/OS V2R3
    members has been updated to not purge a job that requires
    such notification until there are V2R3 members active in the
    MAS that can process such notification. There is still a
    possibility that a job notification message requested via
    NOTIFY JCL statement may not be sent if a down level JES2
    member purges such a job, because there were no z/OS V2R3
    members active in the MAS to process the notification.
    .
    .
    The information in the following JES2 manuals/publications
    is missing/incorrect:
    1.SA32-0989-01   JES2 Messages           (for HJE7790)
    2.SA32-0989-03   JES2 Messages           (for HJE77A0)
    The text for Chapter 6.0 Two-hundreds for message $HASP233
    should be updated to include the following reasons:
    .
      REFORMAT CKPT REQUEST
        This is an internally generated request to re-build the
        checkpoint data from an in memory checkpoint after a
        logical error was found reading data from the checkpoint.
        The current checkpoints are reformatted with the latest
        checkpoint data and processing should resume normally.
    .
    .
    Updates will only be made to the 'JES2 Messages' manual in
    future JES2 releases.
