Error description

  • In a mixed environment of 3380 and 3390 devices with volume
    serials beginning
    a particular prefix (such as XXX) and when using ISPF 3.4 to
    display all data sets on these volumes,
    by leaving "Dsname Level" blank and specifying a pattern (such
    as XXX*) for "Volume
    serial", every data set is displayed as having a device type of
    3380,
    even though most are actually on 3390s

    * USERS AFFECTED: All ISPF users. *
    ****************************************************************
    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When a data set list contains multiple *
    * device types, ISPF 3.4 may display the *
    *                      wrong value after a LEFT/RIGHT scroll   *
    *                      operation.                              *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the provided PTF. *
    ****************************************************************
    ISPF 3.4 displays a data set list using Inital View set to
    volume and a volume mask present. The LEFT command is used to
    present the Total View. The data set list will show only one
    device type even though multiple device types are present.

    The list is refreshed for Total View and the device type is
    overlayed when each data set is retrieved from an internal
    table.

Problem conclusion

  • ISPF is changed to preserve the device type and display the
    correct value.
