APAR status

  • Closed as program error.

Error description

  • The Edit Interface Service (EDIF) and the View Interface Service
    (VIIF) use client written I/O. Currently, the MEMBER edit macro
    statement can return invalid results, based on the contents of
    the data-name.

    The MEMBER edit macro command should return a blank value from
    EDIF and VIIF.

Local fix

  • Since neither the DATASET nor the MEMBER edit macro command can
    return valid data, do not use these commands with EDIF or VIIF.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: The EDIF and VIIF services use the *
    * dsname parameter to calculate the *
    * member name for the MEMBER edit macro *
    * command. This is can cause the MEMBER *
    * macro command to return unpredictable *
    *                      results.                                *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
    The member name returned from the MEMBER macro was being set to
    characters 48-54 of whatever was in the data-name parameter.

Problem conclusion

  • The member name is set to blank for the MEMBER macro when
    issued from an interface service.
