Error description

  • Abend in ISTTSCAR occurs in UNLOCK routine when called from
segment SENDDLC when running disabled after FINDNCB routine
returns an LUCB pointer rather than an NCB pointer. SENDDLC
neglects to set the HNTEPTR needed for latch processing in
    UNLOCK routine in this case.

    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: ABEND0C4 in ISTTSCAR due to HNTEPTR=0 *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
The problem may be summarized as follows:
    1. A two (or more) hop HPR connection is established.
    2. At one of the ANR nodes, the NCB that represents the
next hop DLC connection is freed and the element
address is reused for an application.
    3. When an NLP next arrives at the ANR node,
ISTTSCAR finds an LUCB instead of an NCB
and when it tries to free the CIDCTL lock,
the ABEND0C4 occurs because HNTEPTR had not
       been set.

Problem conclusion

Temporary fix

Comments

  • ISTTSCAR has been updated to set HNTEPTR even if the
control block found is an LUCB.

ISTRPCRT has been included for maintenance purposes only.
