Error description
Some time after VTAM start, when the EE XCA Major Node is activated, the following message is seen in TCP/IP: EZZ4321I ERROR: CODE=0810004A DURING SETUP PHASE ON CONNECTION TO x.x.x.x FOR DEVICE IUTSAMEH. All EE XCA lines remain in PALNK status.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All using Enterprise Extender (EE). * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Attempt to activate the EE XCA Major * * Node yields the following TCP/IP * * message: * * * * EZZ4321I ERROR: CODE=0810004A * * DURING SETUP PHASE ON CONNECTION * * TO x.x.x.x FOR DEVICE IUTSAMEH. * * * * All EE XCA lines remain in PALNK * * status. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** With VTAM active, HPR is running and allocating TIPACs for packing buffers. These TIPACs may be in the T100 or T200 format. As they are discarded via TSDSCARD/TSALERT, ISTTSCUD checks each buffer to determine if it might be an EE activation request. ISTTSCUD looks in the PDUWA to do so. Because these TIPACs are not in the expected TI00 format, the field XBFL_PDUWA is actually pointing to an ISTSND block. ISTTSCUD references the ISTSND as though it were a PDUWA and falsely decrements the TSEXT EE count as a result, making the count go negative. Some time later, request to activate the EE XCA Major Node is issued. Because the TSEXT EE count is not zero, the request fails. VTAM must be recycled to get EE to activate again.
Problem conclusion
The PDUWA_EE_Setup indicator has been moved the base TSCB, replacing an unused bit (TSCFIS). This will remove the dependency ISTTSCUD currently has on the TIPAC being in the proper format when checking for EE activation requests. All parts that reference PDUWA_EE_Setup have been changed to reference the new bit TSC_EE_Setup instead. ISTTSCUD IUTLLCIX IUTLLCCS IUTLLCGI As a precaution, ISTTSCUD will reset the bit after checking it. This will ensure the bit is not left on residually should the the buffer be reused without being cleared.
