    * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: New function to implement a command *
    * line utility called ceatool. This tool *
    * will delete incident data associated *
    *                      with z/OSMF Incident Log.               *
    ****************************************************************
    * RECOMMENDATION:                                              *
    ****************************************************************
       The ceatool command-line utility is used to send requests to
    the z/OS common event adapter (CEA) component to manage
    incidents that were created for the z/OSMF incident log task.
    Specifically, you can:

    - Delete the diagnostic data that is asociated with the
    incidents that will be deleted. That is: error log, error log
    summary, operations log, the entry for the dump in the sysplex
    dump directory and optionally, the SVC dump dataset. Internal
    CEA resources associated with the incident, such as logstreams,
    will also be deleted.

    - Delete incidents on demand using a z/OS UNIX System Services
    shell, or a predefined interval using a JCL or cron job.

    Restriction: The utility deletes only incidents that are not
    associated with a problem number or tracking ID. To delete
    these incidents, use the Delete Incident action provided in the
    Incident Log task.

Comments

  • The ceatool command-line interface is provided to send requests
    to the z/OS common event adapter (CEA) component to manage
    incidents that were created for the z/OSMF Incident Log task.

    You can use a JCL or cron job to invoke the utility, or you can
    enter commands directly in the z/OS UNIX System Services shell.
    To invoke the utility using a batch job, see sample job CEATOOL,
    which is supplied by IBM in SYS1.SAMPLIB(CEATOOL).

    The z/OSMF Configuration Guide (SA38-0652) will be updated to
    describe the new ceatool command.

    The z/OS MVS System Messages Volume 4 (SA22-7634) will be
    updated with new messages issued by the ceatool command.
